Fourth child of Sir Leslie and Julia Stephen. Studied at Trinity College, Cambridge. Married Karin Costelloe (1889-1953) in 1914. Admitted to the bar, later studied medicine, eventually to become a psychoanalyst. Daughters Ann and Judith.
